Asphalt Roof Shingles
Asphalt Roof shingles have been installed for well over 100 years. Throughout that time frame the one aspect that has remained the same is the use of asphalt, with the core of the shingle being different materials in different times. In the 1980’s the fiberglass core became widely used and we made the decision to use a fiberglass core product in 1989 and have never looked back. Years ago, shingles were actually sold by weight. The heavier the shingle, the better it would perform. That is no longer the case. Some manufacturers made mistakes in the 80’s and early 90’s using a light weight fiberglass core. We have always used a manufacturer that had a 4 ounce or better core and have not had the issues of the light weight products. There have been advancements in the shingles ability to hold in high winds and flex as well as the warranty provided by the manufacturer. With our experience with all of the major manufacturer players, we can provide you with the information you need for a shingle that best fits your project. 35 years ago, there were very few choices outside of color, today there is a lot to consider.
