The most common gutters installed today are wood and aluminum. Wood gutters are used when a customer is matching an existing building component or are required due to historical reasons. The challenge of wood gutters is that gutter profiles have been standard for the last 50 years or more, but older homes have profiles that are no longer milled. We can make any profile match any older product by milling. Wood gutters are losing ground to aluminum gutters due to the maintenance required to keep them performing. Joining the wood gutter together is still done with lead flashing and when done properly will perform for 20 to 30 years or more. Coating the inside of the wood gutter is very important step and one that should be done every time you paint the outside of your house, or sooner.
Seamless aluminum gutters are used more and more every day. Half round gutters are back in style again and being used on modern homes more and more.
